Hard drive

After replacing the motherboard in the previous article, I bought a ZhiTai TIPlus5000 2TB hard drive these days.
A while back, due to the lack of extra M.2 hard drive interfaces on the MingXuan motherboard, I was thinking of buying a SATA hard drive. However, after comparing for several days, I found that the prices of SATA hard drives and M.2 hard drives were similar. I was hesitating, and took the opportunity to replace the motherboard due to insufficient power supply and chose a motherboard with two M.2 interfaces, the Gigabyte B550M DS3H.

But unexpectedly, I overlooked that the second M.2 interface is a half-speed PCIe 3.0 x2 interface. Because it was my first time building a computer, I didn't quite understand it. I only realized it when I tested the hard drive after receiving it. Please make sure to check the parameters when purchasing a motherboard to avoid buying unsuitable products.

Below is the PCIe 3.0 x2 read speed.

The sequential read and write speed claimed by the manufacturer is as high as 3500MB/s, but due to PCIe 3.0 x2, it only reaches around 1500MB/s, which is still acceptable. The main purpose of buying this drive is to load games, mainly focusing on 4K random reads, which the manufacturer claims to be 55MB/s, and it has now reached this standard. The main issue is the halving of sequential read and write speeds, which is still acceptable.👍

PS: I came back late tonight to play PUBG because of the official Bluehole update. I landed in the game and it kept crashing, which was really frustrating.
After dinner, I saw there was an update of around 145MB, and after updating, there were no more crashes in the game, but there was still one crash in a game. I hope Bluehole will fix the issue as soon as possible. 😅
